Toronto's First Post Office | 1867 - 1967 Toronto

  • St. Lawrence Hall 157 King Street East Toronto, ON, M5C 1G8 Canada

Once again, Toronto's First Post Office and the Town of York Historical Society are celebrating the anniversary of Toronto's incorporation as a city!

This March 6th, Toronto shares its 183rd birthday with Canada’s 150th. It is also Toronto's 150th year as capital of the Province of Ontario! For this historic year, we’ll be featuring storytellers, artists, and musicians, presenting Toronto tales from 1867, 1967, and 2017.

Featuring: BRUCE BELL with piano accompaniment by RANDY VANCOURT. Music by IAN BELL, TOM LEIGHTON, CONRAD KIPPING, and MICHELLE RUMBALL

... and don't forget our annual Old Town Silent Auction, with wonderful surprises from the neighbourhood and across Toronto. Keep an eye on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds for the auction lots up for grabs this March 6th! They include hotel packages, culinary experiences, theatre tickets, and much more. We appreciate the support of many community partners in this fundraiser.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Town of York Historical Society and Toronto’s First Post Office, a museum and National Historic Site. The Town of York Historical Society researches, interprets, and promotes the history of the Town of York and early Toronto, and fosters the preservation of the Town of York’s surviving built environment.
